No Man's Sky How to Get Your Ship Back

No Man's Sky

No Man's Sky

Lost my ship on a planet

I was a distance from my ship and accidentally summoned a different one (which means it switches that ship to my default). The original ship doesn't have enough fuel for me to summon it so I can't call it too me and I can't find it by sight. There's no marker and I can't laod a previous save. How do I find my old ship?

Try taking the new ship up and check you HUD. I think it will show an icon of a ship. Then fly new to old. This is just a guess.

as soon as you re load the ship will be there also no need to load a old save and if you have a carrier the ship will be there too

You can teleport to a space station too and it sends your ship there

Can't say that this will happen to you; but in past iterations of NMS, ships that I've "lost" on a planet had a strange habit of being "found" on my freighter.

The game does garbage collection on your stuff. Haven't you noticed your curious ability to summon an exocraft anywhere no matter what planet you last left it rusting upon? If you still owned this ship when you left it, it will at the very least appear when you next visit your freighter. I know you have a freighter because the game doesn't allow acquisition of more than one ship until you have one.

Stop worrying and summon your freighter and fly the other ship back to it.

Spaceships registered in the quick menu call list. Listed spacecraft are not usually present anywhere in the universe. It is not necessary to own a freighter.
Appears when you call. It can fly even if it is broken or without fuel.
If you can't call another spaceship right now, it's a problem with the spaceship you are currently using. If you repair or refuel the spacecraft in front of you, you can call another spaceships.

Actually you can. You do not need a freighter to have more than 1 ship but as you don't have a freighter the only way to change ships is to summon one from the menu.

This all happened hours ago so I hope you've figured it all out.
For anyone else who does a search on this, the first suggestion is the best immediate remedy. Remembering that the "lost" ship is owned but out of launch fuel, the next best thing is to look for it on your Freighter.
It may not be there at first but all that is needed is to warp the Freighter to another nearby location.
Crazy Atlas magic happens and all of your ships (except of course the one you are in...) are now in the Freighter.
If you do not own a Freighter (yes, you CAN own multiple ships w/o owning a Freighter) then you must wait until owning a Freighter to see the ship again if you fail to do the immediate search as @holmdt suggested.
To clarify on that, you must be in first person and look at the radar. Your "lost" ship will be a dot on there unless you have traveled an incredibly long distance from the landing. I mean long distance as in you will have spent about 8 irl hrs walking/running/jet packing in one direction.

I like how you stated that! That's exactly what happens. :-)

Thanks all, it did show up on my Freighter - with sparks indicating damage but no actual damage. *shrug*

Something to note about freighters: Ships will spark and blaze like they are damaged sometimes. Other times, when you show up at your freighter it is empty, and you freak out that your 2 Exotics, 38/8 fighter, and others are gone. Just reload. It happens to me 1/2 the time.

I've never seen them spark or in flame, but their disappearance has become quite routine and I saw one of my haulers smoking. Fully half the occasions that I visit my freighter all the other ships in my garage will be gone. These disappearing ships are just icing on the cake of exocraft that disappear at random and can only be found again by their worldspace marker.

i dont have a freighter, i just saw a broken down ship on a desert and claimed it, however i did not have the necessary components to repair it so i decided to go back to my old ship and it was gone. do you know where that ended up?

When you get a freighter it will be in there, as long as you've saved the game.

You don't need a freighter to swap back to your old ship. hit the X key to access all your quick functions. Go to the one for ships and select the ship you want to use.
